As part of the ARCHITA project developed by ETS Ingegneria, ADTS supplied a Tunnel Scan System specifically engineered for high-resolution tunnel inspections on road and rail infrastructure.
ARCHITA is a dual-mode vehicle (road/rail) designed to perform structural assessments and digital mapping inside tunnels. The integrated Tunnel Scan solution by ADTS allows the acquisition of detailed geometric and visual data in a single scan, with millimetric resolution.

System Configuration
The Tunnel Scan system installed on ARCHITA includes:
16 high-efficiency LED illuminators, mounted on a custom arched frame to ensure uniform lighting across the entire tunnel section — even in complete darkness.
A Photographic Scanning Module composed of 3 high-speed digital line-scan cameras, offering 210° radial field of view, 10 m working range and millimetric resolution, both longitudinally and transversally.
A ZF Profiler, used for clearance measurement and identification of intrusions into the safety envelope of the tunnel.
A Thermal Camera, integrated for temperature-based anomaly detection, capable of identifying water infiltration, insulation issues, or localized heating in tunnel structures.
This configuration enables full-surface capture of tunnel walls, allowing operators to detect even the smallest anomalies.
All components are synchronized and managed through ADTS proprietary acquisition and analysis software, ensuring seamless operation and precise data correlation across all inspection subsystems.
Software Integration
The system is managed through proprietary ADTS software platforms, responsible for:
Image acquisition and synchronization
Profile reconstruction
Visual analysis and defect identification
Reporting and long-term archiving
These tools support both real-time monitoring and post-processing of inspection data, enabling detailed diagnostics and maintenance planning.

Applications and Performance
The Tunnel Scan installed on ARCHITA is used for:
Structural inspection of railway and road tunnels
Visual documentation of wall conditions
Detection of cracks, water infiltration, surface degradation and more
Thanks to its combined imaging and lighting architecture, the system ensures reliable performance in tunnels of various geometries and lighting conditions.
A Collaboration with ETS Ingegneria
This integration is part of a broader collaboration between ADTS and ETS Ingegneria in the context of advanced tunnel inspection and digital mapping technologies.
The system complies with the technical requirements of the MIRET project for AI-assisted infrastructure diagnostics.
