Track Geometry

Inertial-based system for dynamic track geometry monitoring

Track Geometry Measurement System

The ADTS non-contact Track Geometry Measurement System (TGMS) enables accurate evaluation of track geometry under a wide range of environmental conditions.
The system integrates an inertial measuring unit (IMU) with high-precision Rail Profile units to measure all critical geometrical parameters of the railway track — at speeds of up to 80 km/h. The following parameters are measured:

  • Gauge
  • Crosslevel
  • Twist
  • Longitudinal Level
  • Alignment

How It Works

The TGMS operates using a combination of two Rail Profile and an inertial measuring unit (IMU) to determine the relative position and orientation of the track.

Rail profiles are acquired in real time and precise reference points are defined based on the measured profiles. These points are established within an IMU-referenced coordinate system, ensuring accurate and repeatable geometry calculations.
